Pharmacy

Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs. It is a health profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences and aims to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical drugs.

The scope of pharmacy practice includes more traditional roles such as compounding and dispensing medications, and it also includes more modern services related to health care, including clinical services, reviewing medications for safety and efficacy, and providing drug information. Pharmacists, therefore, are the experts on drug therapy and are the primary health professionals who optimize use of medication for the benefit of the patients.

An establishment in which pharmacy (in the first sense) is practiced is called a pharmacy (this term is more common in the United States) or a chemist's (which is more common in Great Britain). In the United States and Canada, drugstores commonly sell drugs, as well as miscellaneous items such as confectionery, cosmetics, office supplies, and magazines and occasionally refreshments and groceries.

Pharmacy (album)

Pharmacy is the debut studio album by Swedish electronic music duo Galantis, released on 8 June 2015. The album features three singles ("Runaway (U & I)", "You", and "Peanut Butter Jelly") and a promotional single ("Gold Dust").

Singles

The first single "You" was originally on their self-titled EP and currently has over eight million plays on Spotify. However, it was not intended to promote Pharmacy, making "Runaway (U & I)" the album's first official single. "Peanut Butter Jelly" was later released on the pre-release of the album.

Galantis released the single "Gold Dust" on 19 February 2015. It reached number one on Hype Machine's Popular Chart.

Reception

John Cameron from WeGotThisCovered.com gave Pharmacy a 3.5/5 stars stating "Galantis may have set our expectations a little too high with their 2014 releases" (referencing "Runaway (U & I)", 'You" and "Smile"), stating that even though the album's production values were good, "most of the songs seem to lack originality". Cameron also stated that "the tracks on Pharmacy are not poorly done by any means – it's just that very few of the new ones are all that memorable." A more positive review came from Lucas Sachs from YourEDM.com, he gave the album a "respectable 8.5/10" pointing out track 6 "Louder, Harder, Better" and track 10 "Firebird" as "two new songs from this album that stick out to me due to their excellence in production and writing." Stating that "Louder, Harder, Better" encompasses all that Galantis stands for, and that "Firebird" was his favorite track on the album due to the nostalgic feeling in the lyrics and the added reverb on the word "bird".

Pharmacy (restaurant)

Pharmacy was a restaurant in Notting Hill, London, which opened in 1998. The venture was backed, in the early days, by Damien Hirst and the public relations guru, Matthew Freud. It gained further publicity thanks to a dispute with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain which claimed the name and the pill bottles and medical items on display could confuse people looking for a real pharmacy. The name itself was breaching the Medicines Act 1968, which restricts the use of "pharmacy". The restaurant's name was subsequently changed to "Army Chap", and then "Achy Ramp": anagrams of "Pharmacy".

However, initial plans to open further restaurants outside London were quietly dropped and the restaurant itself closed in September 2003.

Hirst, who had only loaned the restaurant the artwork on display on the premises, went on to earn over £11 million when the items were auctioned at Sotheby's.<ref name=Sotheby's>Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (October 2004). Frontier

A frontier is the political and geographical areas near or beyond a boundary. The term came from French in the 15th century, with the meaning "borderland"—the region of a country that fronts on another country (see also marches).

The word "frontier" also means a region at the edge of a settled area, especially in North American development. It is a transition zone where explorers, pioneers and settlers were arriving. That is, as pioneers moved into the "frontier zone", they were changed by the encounter. A frontier can also be referred to as a "front".

That is what Frederick Jackson Turner calls "the significance of the frontier." For example, Turner argues that, in United States' 1893, one change was that unlimited free land in this zone was available, and thus offered the psychological sense of unlimited opportunity. This, in turn, had many consequences such as optimism, future orientation, shedding of restraints due to land scarcity, and wastefulness of natural resources.

Ulmus 'Frontier'

Ulmus 'Frontier' is an American hybrid cultivar , a United States National Arboretum introduction (NA 55393) derived from a crossing of the European Field Elm Ulmus minor (female parent) with the Chinese Elm Ulmus parvifolia in 1971. Released in 1990, the tree is a rare example of the hybridization of spring-flowering and autumn-flowering elms.

Description

'Frontier' develops a vase or pyramidal shape, with glossy green foliage turning, unusually for elms, to burgundy in autumn. The twigs are pubescent. Slow growing, the ultimate height of the tree has yet to be determined, but should be > 15 m. The tree is autumn-flowering but rarely flowers, and has not produced seed.

Pests and diseases

'Frontier' has a good resistance to Dutch elm disease, rated 4 out of 5, but tolerance of Elm Yellows in the USA was found to be poor. No mortalities are known to have occurred from the latter disease, however, and the cultivar is not known to be vulnerable to infection through natural means. The tree can be heavily to severely damaged by the Elm Leaf Beetle Xanthogaleruca luteola, although it fared better than most of the cultivars assessed at U C Davis, suffering little more than 10% foliar damage. Although susceptible to attack by Japanese Beetle, it is far less seriously affected than most hybrid cultivars available in the USA.

Frontier (1955 TV series)

Frontier is an American Western anthology series that aired on NBC from September 1955, to September 1956. The series de-emphasizes gunplay and focuses on the hazards of the settlement of the American West. It was only the second anthology Western series in television history, having been preceded by Death Valley Days.

Frontier aired premiered on September 25, 1955, and ran sporadically in its last five months. Walter Coy narrated the series and starred in occasional episodes, which are dramatizations based on actual events. The program was produced by Worthington Miner.

Premise

Coy begins each Frontier episode with the line: "This is the way it happened ... movin' west", and he closed with the refrain: "It happened that way ... movin' west." Frontier is similar in scope to its predecessor and longer-lasting syndicated series Death Valley Days, which went through a series of hosts, including Stanley Andrews (known on the program as The Old Ranger), Ronald W. Reagan, Robert Taylor, and Dale Robertson.
